Jupiter Theme Review

Jupiter, a premium multi-purpose theme was created in July 2013, by an Envato power elite author, called ‘Artbees’. The theme developers are known for their numerous graphic items available on themeforest.net market. The Artbees masterfully combined visual expressivity with technical performance in a multi-purpose, lightweight and fast theme.

Design

In Jupiter theme, Artbees author developed a clean design using animation effects and colors to help you impress the visitors. Jupiter is a beautiful, customizable theme, retina ready with a responsive layout to make your website look amazing on all types of devices.

With over 90 demos available for download on the author’s website, Jupiter can help you virtually create any site, no matter if it is for business, community, creative, food or health. The Jupiter theme was designed to be a minimal, elegant template, using clean code. It is an intuitive and user-friendly theme.

This template comes with an interesting feature that allows you to globally control each background section of your website, for every post or page. You can set a different color or a custom image background for predefined sections like title, header, page, footer, and sidebars.

Jupiter lets you choose between using a ‘full width layout’ or a ‘boxed style’ for your website, while the ‘Preloader’ function will acquire one of the ten visual animation effects available in the Theme’s Options panel. With Jupiter, you can make your website more impressive by styling your content with typography options, as Google and Typekit fonts are available for you to use.

With the Jupiter theme, you can create content using some particular post formats like image, video, audio, portfolio, blockquote, Twitter or Instagram and style them using individual settings. Also, this theme comes with 11 sliders ready to make your pages eye-catching. When adjusting a page, you can personalize its layout to be fullscreen or boxed using sidebars. This flexible template allows you to style each post, page or other website elements and overwrite the theme panel settings.

When you build a beautiful website from scratch, it will be easier to create a design structure using Jupiter’s 14 footer and 12 header layouts, dark/light logos, background colors & textures.

Jupiter is a social, friendly theme. To get more views and appreciations for your content, you can use Instagram, Flickr or one of the four social widgets like the JP – Social Networks plugin, Twitter Feeds.

Whether you want to add multilingual options, an e-commerce section or a forum, Jupiter is compatible with WPML, WooCommerce, and bbPress. This theme also supports RTL.

Functionality

Jupiter comes with a Theme Options panel which gathers settings in ‘General’, ‘Styling’, ‘Typography’, ‘Portfolios’, ‘Blog’, ‘E-commerce and ‘Advanced’ sections. The ‘Advanced/Manage Theme’ section brings together all the options related to the speed optimization, page speed defers optimization, original components, minify options and more. In the WordPress admin area, outside the Theme Options, Artbees created 11 more sections dedicated to the Animated Columns, Tab Sliders, Photo Albums, Portfolios, Edge Slider, News, Pricing Table and other. In these areas, you can add new projects and customize them individually.

Visual Composer, a back-end drag-and-drop page builder, is what powers Jupiter. You can build your page structure using over 80 blocks and also use the shortcodes from the WordPress MCE editor. This theme comes with four setting panels inside a new post or page. These sections provide options that allow you to individually customize each project, adding widgets, or new stylish layout modifications. Jupiter comes with 12 custom post types and lets you choose to deactivate the ones you don’t need.

If you like to add widgets to your website, you’ll be glad to read that Jupiter has 16 widgets ready to be used and a dual sidebar option.

The theme has two required plugins, the ‘Artbees Themes Captcha’ and the ‘Visual Composer’ and it is compatible with the WPML, bbPress, and Gravity Forms.

Jupiter also comes with a child theme in the installation package, which lets you modify .php files without altering the main template.

Performance

We have tested Jupiter’s default demo on different page speed tests and the content loads at a high speed.

Downsides

The demos don’t come with the theme’s package, and you have to register on the author’s page and download them from the website repository.

Although Jupiter theme provides Google and Typekit fonts, you cannot add custom typography.

With no translation options integrated, the author provides .po and .mo files in the theme package. But you need to install a language editor, like Poedit, Polylang or others.

Jupiter doesn’t have an ad system and is not AdSense ready.
